Reading: Folktales and Myths
-On Friday, students will turn in a
letter about their reading to me as proof of their nightly reading assignment.
-On the back is a reading log, which isn't required
to be completed. I told students it would be a good idea to complete
about their nightly reading so that when they write their letter on
Thursday they have ideas of their weekly reading.
Vocabulary:
Unit 1-Week 1: fragile, research, defend, specific, pledge
Unit 1-Week 2: assemble, elegant, privilege, calculate, grumble
Unit 1-Week 3: pause, gasp, ancient, observe, brief
Unit 1-Week 4: convince, swiftly, rely, rare, precise
Unit 1-Week 5: oppose, snide, heap, diverse, origin
-Vocabulary lists will come home every two weeks (5 words per week).
-Tests will be every TWO weeks over 10 words
Word Study: Unit 3 (ending blends)
-Students
have circled which list to work on: regular or challenge.
-The
letter in blue folders explains how the test will be given on Friday.
10 words to study (either the regular or challenge) and the 3 No Excuse
Words for writing. These words don't follow patterns, but are common in
writing. Students will need to write these words IN A SENTENCE ON THE
TEST. These words are the hardest (STUDY!)
-Students will also be given 10 additional words that follow the
spelling pattern for the week. They will not be
given these words to study, but should apply the pattern of the week.
-Test on Friday
Math: Unit 2: Multiplication meanings
Writing: Narratives-Crafting real stories
-This week we continue revising our personal narratives
-For grammar we are developing compound sentences with two subjects and two predicates. Students may bring home an extra practice sheet Thursday, but isn't mandatory to complete. Students will have a quiz on Friday.
