Reading: Understanding Author's Point of View in Non-Fiction
-HOMEWORK HAS CHANGED for the 9 weeks. Students will complete a quick summary of their 20 minuted nightly reading.  They will turn in the summary each morning.  It will be returned to them each afternoon.

Vocabulary:     
Unit 2 - Week 1: gradually, merchant, essential, fortunate, immense
Unit 2 - Week 2: lob, tremble, skeptic, propose, inflate
Unit 2 - Week 3: isolated, alter, gullible, emphasize, novice
Unit 2 - Week 4: clarify, spare, strain, remain, exotic  

Unit 2 - Week 5: glee, snatch, dangle, hesitate, greedy 
Unit 2 - Week 6: observe, disgruntled, imitate, extravagant, witty 

Unit 2 - Week 7: infinite. urgent. disperse. fret. faint

Unit 2 - Week 8: partial, elaborate, conceal, blunt, precise - Test Friday Weeks 7/8

Word Study: Unit 12.2 (Long U: oo,ew)  
-10 words to study (either regular or challenge)
-3 No Excuse Words for writing. These words don't follow patterns, but are common in writing. Students will need to write these words in a sentence. 
-Students will also be given 10 additional words that follow the spelling pattern for the week.
-Test Friday

Math: Unit 4: Module 4 - Fractions

Study Guide goes home on Wednesday

Writing: Writing Opinions/Persuasive
-We will begin writing our opinion pieces this week, starting with speech writing.
-For grammar (Mentor Sentence) we are focusing on compound predicates and possessive pronouns.

-Students will have a Mentor Sentence quiz Friday.   

Social Studies: Major Cities of the U.S.

- Students will bring home a practice map .
- They will have a quiz Friday.
